Here are a pair of speakers I got for the measly sum of 50 pounds secondhand. Back in 1978 a Pair of these beauties would have cost 470 pounds new.. a considerable sum of money then. I felt that they deserved being preserved and set about upgrading them.
The 551 Bass Driver
Here is the bass driver from the 551's. An IPC101 unit with 50mm voice coil and 2.9kg motor unit producing 1.1 tesla (11,000 gauss). This alone is well worth 50 pounds!!
